Contribute to Women’s EMPOWERMENT in KOLKATA (India)

This project was born thanks to an NGO created in 2006 in India and aimed to contribute to the improvement of living conditions of Indian populations from weak economic background.

This social project aims to contribute to women’s empowerment from weak socio-economical background in India through providing professional training and employment to young girls and women in our craft workshop.

The workshop is located in Baruipur district, part of South of Kolkata. The women are producing ladies bags, purses and other accessories to sell locally and internationally. Time to time, men who are professional tailors come to cut fabrics (tasks than women cannot do for the time being).

Items needed: - instruments for stitching : pins, pin cushions, seam rippers, iron, thimbles, scissors ( tailor’s scissors, sewing scissors), duster, rotary cutter, thread nippers, tailor’s chalk, disappearing ink, ruler, bobbins, … - used computer material : laptops, printers, scanners, mobiles, English keyboard, mouse, … - models or samples that can inspire us for production : samples of wallets, of make-up box, of purses that people buy in Europe, USA or other countries…
